These Chocolate Maca Balls are delicious. Sweet, chewy and packed with flavour. A perfect nutrient-rich snack that will satisfy your sweet tooth and power your afternoon.

Vegan, gluten-free and no-bake!



10 Medjool Dates

1/2 Cup Walnuts

2 Tablespoon Cacao Powder

2 Tablespoon Maca Powder

1 Teaspoon Cinnamon

Pinch of Sea Salt

1/4 Cup Goji Berries x 2

1/4 Cup Dark Chocolate Chips

Goji Berries for dusting



Before you Start

Soak 10 pitted Medjool dates overnight – start with hot water for a few minutes.

Place a 1/4 cup of Goji Berries in a high-speed blender and blend until really finely chopped – almost to a powder. Keep separating if necessary. You want a crumbly mixture, not a paste.


Get set .. Go!

Drain the dates and reserve water.

Prepare and measure out all other ingredients

Place the dates, walnuts, cacao powder, maca powder, cinnamon and the pinch of salt into a high-speed blender.

Process everything on high speed for about two minutes until a dough is formed.

Don’t worry if the dough seems dry in the beginning.

Just continue mixing as the dates will release juice and make it sticky.

Scrape down the sides of the blender with a spatula if needed.

After two minutes, stop processing and check the texture by pinching the dough between your fingers.

It should be sticky and able to keep its shape.

If the mixture is too dry, add a bit of the water in which you soaked the dates – start with small quantities i.e. a teaspoon at a time.

Mix again and check the texture.

Make sure you taste the dough. These chocolate energy balls are mildly sweet so if you feel like you need a bit more sweetness, feel free to add a teaspoon of maple syrup, raw honey or date syrup. Molasses is good here too.

Just be aware - if you’re adding liquid sweetener as suggested, then there’s no need to add water. Sweetener will bind the dough and make texture sticky.

In the end, add the 1/4 cup Goji berries and 1/4 cup sweetened cacao nibs.  Pulse everything for half more minute.

Using a spoon, scoop out dough and roll between your palms to form your balls.

Roll the balls in the crushed/crumbled Goji berries  

Place energy balls on a plate and into the fridge to harden

Once hardened, remove and place in an airtight container and store in the fridge
